Paul was born in Dover in 1967 and began drawing at a very young age.
He studied film and TV work at university and his interest in caricature led him to do a work placement at the Spitting Image workshop, designing and modeling the puppets. After graduating he returned to work on the last few series of the show.
In 1995 he became a freelance cartoonist and caricaturist and his work has been published in The Guardian, The New Statesman and Punch.
He has also worked in advertising and character design. In 2005 he was nominated for a D and Ad award for his character designs for the Jonathan Crisp range of crisp packets.
