Anthony Smith

I started my career as a cartoonist, working for the Dimbleby Newspaper Group at the tender age of 15, before going on to work for various publications, including Marvel UK, Knockabout and Hodder Children’s Books. Then in a bit of a career change I went off to become a writer and art director at various advertising agencies in London, including J. Walter Thompson.

During this period I kept up my cartooning and illustration, contributing to numerous publications and media platforms. This included writing and drawing a daily cartoon for the national Metro newspaper for several years, contributing two regular cartoon features to DC Thomson, drawing various strips for Viz Comic, writing and drawing comic-book stories for David Lloyd’s Aces Weekly and contributing pocket cartoons to The Oldie, The Spectator and Private Eye.

In recent years, Private Eye have also published over a hundred of my ‘Logos as they should be’ and I’m currently drawing Andy Capp-in-Ring for them. (And other bits and bobs!)
