Chattoon at the London Comedy Store

November 3, 2010 in General, News

Cartoonist Simon Ellinas and speaker Alan Stevens have launched the Chattoon show by interviewing Neil Mullarkey and Richard Vranch of the Comedy Store Players.

Simon told Bloghorn;

After being asked to draw Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington on GMTV while they were being interviewed, it struck me as a great idea for a short interview series whilst at the same time putting cartoons into the public consciousness.

We’re initially looking at it as a web project to promote all our individual talents but if a TV producer likes the idea we won’t be reluctant to discuss possibilities.

  1. Thanks Matt. I am not going to be the only cartoonist doing this show. We intend to show a wide variety of cartooning disciplines and styles. Quick cartoon illustrations based on the chat, cartoon strips (on walls, for instance). Immediate interest in the project has been promising. So watch this space!

  2. Sounds like a great idea Simon!

  3. It does indeed. Quick narrative cartooning accompanying an interview/discussion always works well. Its good that this form might get airtime.

  4. Great idea Simon. Drop the other guy and polish up your interviewing skills and you’ve got a winner! 🙂

  5. …oh yes, nearly forgot. How about Caricachat as an alternative title?

  6. Thanks chaps. We’ve got a few interesting subjects lined up for the future and I’ve just come back from an alcohol-fuelled meeting with two of the team which has opened a whole vista of possibilities.

    Pete – we’re not solely showcasing caricatures, so Chattoon!, containing as it does a diminutive of ‘cartoon’, covers all bases, including the all-important ‘chat’.

    Currently, temporarily, at until we get our act together…
